Apocalypse Rising 2 Loot Guide
From quiet houses to NAS, Prison, and random events — loot tiers that match your kit.
Loot is the entire economy of Apocalypse Rising 2. Dualpoint Interactive’s archipelago (place 863266079) rewards players who escalate risk on purpose: quiet coastal houses first, mid-size towns second, then military compounds and random events. This guide lays out that ladder, flags the hottest military sites, explains backpack and ammo discipline, and points you to Map Locations, Special Weapons, the Tier List, and Getting Started.
Remember the spawn kit: Snubnose, knife, beans, drink, bandages. Your first goal is never “best sniper on the server” — it is backpack + automatic + food/water + meds without feeding campers at NAS.
The loot ladder
1) Beginner towns (1–5 houses)
Small residential clusters are the correct first stop. Expect civilian drawers, kitchen spawns, light weapon crates, food, water sources, and occasional backpacks. Infected presence is usually manageable with melee, and player traffic is lower than Ashland or Prison.
How to clear them:
- Approach from cover, not the main road silhouette.
- Melee Infected; save gunfire for players or emergencies.
- Grab any bag upgrade immediately — capacity beats a second pistol.
- Take matching ammo only; dump exotic calibers you cannot feed.
- Leave once the houses are dry. Dwelling invites third parties.
If the nearest POI is already a military icon, walk the coast to a quieter town instead of ego-challenging a geared squad.
2) Mid towns and civilian hubs
Once you have a bag and a working gun, step up to larger towns with police stations, clinics, grocery stores, and multi-floor apartments. These areas mix civilian and light police / surplus crates. You will see more Infected and more survivors who had the same idea.
Priorities here:
- Medical buildings for bandages and kits
- Police or security rooms for better sidearms and SMGs
- Warehouses and garages for tools, melee upgrades, and repair-adjacent loot
- Rooftops and back alleys for escape routes before you commit to the main street
Towns such as quieter parts of Beaufort, residential skirts near Fairview, and similar mid-tier marks are strong once the beach kit is gone. Still treat every corner as occupied.
3) Military and high-tier compounds
These sites define late-game kits and late-game PvP. Enter only when you can afford to lose the run — or when your group of 2–5 can cover angles (friendly fire off).
| Hotspot | Island / area focus | Why players go | Beginner warning |
|---|---|---|---|
| Naval Air Station (NAS) | Faris side military airfield | Automatic rifles, attachments, military crates | Constant campers; avoid on life one |
| Ashland | Halsey urban sprawl | Dense building loot, high traffic fights | Easy to get pinched in streets |
| Military Prison | Faris north near Casino | Police crates, Special Forces crates, boss Infected | Snake MAC-10 hunters everywhere |
| Casino | Faris north cluster | High-value indoor loot, boss rooms, nearby cave | Roof and interior ambushes |
| Magnolia | Northern high-value cluster | Power / tactical / industrial loot pockets | Stacked with other endgame routes |
| Beaufort | Halsey (Beta placement) | Early-mid military / surplus pockets, Soviet side rooms | Safer than NAS but not empty |
Clear a perimeter, loot the highest-value rooms first, and leave with a plan. The player who greed-checks “one more crate” after a loud fight often funds the next squad’s loadout.
For unmarked rooms inside these POIs — Beaufort Soviet pocket, Executioners Cave, Casino Cave, Prison showers, Magnolia side buildings, Mines, Fanatic Hideout — use the dedicated Map Locations guide.
Random events worth the risk
Helicopter crashes and the Techno Truck (and similar rotating events) dump rare, high-tier gear into otherwise ordinary terrain. They are visible, loud magnets. Rules of engagement:
- Scout with binoculars or high ground before you commit.
- Assume at least one squad is already watching the wreck.
- Take the unique gun or attachment you came for; do not inventory-Tetris in the open.
- Disengage if a third party arrives — event loot is not worth a 1v6.
Infected bosses tied to events can drop signature weapons (for example Techno Lord style Desert Eagle variants). Confirm current drop tables in patch notes under Updates when Dualpoint retunes events.
Backpack priority
Backpacks are more important than almost any single gun upgrade. A larger bag lets you carry:
- Multiple ammo boxes for your primary
- Food and drinks so hunger / thirst never force a bad push
- Medkits and bandages for post-fight recovery
- A secondary melee and a sidearm without dumping survival supplies
Loot order inside a building: bag → gun you can feed → consumables → attachments → cosmetics. Cosmetics are nice; dying thirsty with a fashionable hat is not.
If you find a bag next to a rare weapon and cannot carry both plus food, take the bag and enough ammo to survive the walk to the next town. You can find another gun. You cannot invent inventory slots mid-fight.
Ammo management
Apocalypse Rising 2 punishes hoarders who carry four calibers “just in case.”
- Pick one primary caliber and feed it.
- Keep a sidearm that shares ammo or uses abundant pistol rounds.
- Dump partial boxes of guns you already discarded.
- Military crates can overflow you with 5.56, 7.62, or Soviet loads — take what matches the rifle on your back.
- Melee Infected to save bullets for players.
Automatic weapons are the practical meta for most players because they forgive aim. A rare sniper with twenty rounds and no bag loses to a common auto with three full mags and meds. Use the Tier List and Special Weapons pages when you are choosing what to keep after a Prison or NAS clear.
Infected farming vs player loot
Melee stealth on Infected keeps you quiet and often improves the value of what you walk away with — less wasted ammo, fewer third-party beacons, more time to finish a building. Guns on zombies are for emergencies or when you are already compromised.
Player corpses are high-risk, high-reward. Approach from cover, assume a trap, grab the bag and primary, and leave. Corpses in the open are classic bait.
Sample routes (adapt to your spawn)
Fresh Faris-side spawn: Coastal houses → mid town → only then Casino / Prison / NAS if geared.
Fresh Halsey-side spawn: Quiet outskirts → Beaufort pockets → delay Ashland until you have auto + bag + meds.
Group of 3–5: Assign entry, stairs, and street watch. Ping loot, do not announce grid in global chat. Friendly fire off means you can stack a hallway safely — still watch for team blockage in doorways.
Event pivot: If a heli or Techno Truck marks near your mid-town route, scout it. If contested by multiple squads, finish your town and rotate later.
What not to do
- Do not announce “anyone want to team at NAS” with your exact corner in chat.
- Do not ignore hunger meters because a crate looked shiny.
- Do not bring a beach kit into Prison showers for Snake MAC-10 glory.
- Do not carry every attachment “for later” while dropping water.
- Do not trust fake codes to skip looting — there are none.
Looting well is routing well. Learn island geography next on Map Locations, rebuild faster with Getting Started, and spend the guns you earn according to the Tier List.
Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers to the most common questions.
Where should I loot first as a beginner?
Small towns with only a few houses. They provide food, basic guns, and early backpacks with less campers than NAS, Ashland, or Prison.
What are the best high-tier loot locations?
Naval Air Station, Ashland, Military Prison, Casino, Magnolia, and strong Beaufort military pockets. Enter only after you have a bag, automatic, and medical supplies.
Are helicopter crashes and the Techno Truck worth it?
Yes for rare gear, but they attract squads. Scout first, take the key item, and leave if the fight balloons.
Why prioritize backpacks over rare guns?
Capacity lets you carry ammo, food, water, and meds together. A rare gun you cannot feed or heal around loses fights to a common automatic with supplies.
How should I manage ammo?
Commit to one primary caliber, keep matching boxes, melee Infected when possible, and drop ammo for guns you already discarded.
Does meleeing Infected help loot?
Quiet melee clears waste less ammo and attract fewer players, which usually means you finish buildings with more of the loot still yours.
